>>54214520Believe me, I know. I'm going in expecting it to run about as smooth as mainland Paldea does.
If it's better, then brilliant.
Gen 9 was the first time quality control slipped so bad, Game Freak had to publicly acknowledge it. I don't believe they took it lightly or would gloss over trying to fix things.
I know it's easy to hate on GF because this is /vp/ but they historically have a very strong track record with bug-lite and highly polished games. The fact that the wild area tree got so hyperfocused on when the rest of SWSH looked pretty good says it all.
Gen 9 however was a huge mishap that I believe stemmed entirely from inexperienced devs overreaching what they were capable of. IMO Pokémon should stay semi-open like SWSH and Legends, a mix of routes and various open areas. They had the sweet spot but fans expectations wanted them to push it further.
A fully open world that is actually still engaging to adventure through and appropriately tailored to your own level scaling and team building on a nintendo console under a studio that effectively exclusively makes oldschool handheld RPG's for kids? That was a pipe dream, and GF struggled clearly to make it halfway functional.
I do genuinely believe that Gen 9's launch embarrassed Game Freak, and that they are trying to fix it best they can for the DLC (hence why DLC 1 is in Fall and not Summer like SWSH's DLC.) - and I believe they're gonna scale back for a tighter experience in their games going forward, I don't believe Gen 10 will be fully open.
But we'll get what we get, I'll try enjoy it and judge it fairly.
