>>54229224For major releases, maybe it's too big to fail, who knows. There is one interesting counterexample, though. BDSP was very blatantly rushed out to market so fast they couldn't even finish the music, was released during the holiday season, sold 14.65 million copies by March 2022, had kind of shitty reception, and has sold 14.92 million copies at this point (I could not find updated sales data in the last fiscal year report, so I assume there was no notable increase in sales beyond that). PLA was released in Fuck You It's January, was not perfect at launch but was mostly functional, has mixed reception but was trying a lot of new things, sold 12.64 million units in the same March 2022 fiscal report (given the lagged release in a shitty sales time that's okayish), and according to the latest fiscal year report has sold 14.83 million units which implies some serious legs despite it's potential Holiday season money being taken up by SV. The fact that the lifetime sales are so close says to me that it doesn't fucking matter, just delay the game people will buy it eventually. If you really want, time the final DLC during the holiday season so you can sell people the more expensive GOTY version that has all the DLC included.
