Gen 5 has some the highest high but one of the lowest low of franchise desu.
The new Pokemons have some of the best of some of ugliest designs. I think it was the first gen where I didn't like a majority of the new Pokemons

It's crazy how poorly XY sold. Newest nearly-launch first gen games on a brand new super popular system. And it barely outsold BW and SM, both 2nd gen games on handhelds overrun by piracy by that point. Yeesh.

Did you forget how terrible the 3ds was at the start? They had to cut the price down by like 80$ and as an apology to the people who bought it at full price they gave out free nes and gba games. And even after that it still didn’t see the same success as the DS.

Lowest sales in a franchise either mean it's unplayable garbage, some weird spin-off or handheld title, or a divisive game that alienates players with it's unique concepts. Given BW isn't SV (it's a better game than SS but I'm right) or Legends (would have been my taste if it weren't open world garbage), it's definitely the third camp.
