>>54258843>So you think Blaine suddenly became much stronger in 2 years than he had been for literal decadesDid you...play the fucking game? He DOESN'T become much stronger. He has little room left to grow compared to trainers like Brock or Misty.
>And how do you explain all gym leaders having the same amount of pokemon around the same levelYou can't be this fucking stupid. For one, they don't have the same amount of pokemon. Sabrina uses less Pokemon than she does in RBY and it varies from trainer to trainer, and on top of that, a lot of them using 4-5 Pokemon would make sense because they would have caught more Pokemon in 2 years. For two, levels are an abstraction, dumbass. Again, Lance and Bruno did not become magically weaker. Levels are used to communicate a point and for gameplay progression, but they're not literal things that exist in-universe, that is not how any JRPG has ever worked.
>sounds a lot more convolutedAdding on a bunch of retarded shit doesn't really make it look worse. "They got stronger after 2 years" sounds far more logical than "UMMM THEY TRAIN 8 TEAMS AND UHH SOMEHOW PERFECTLY KNOW WHICH TEAM TO USE AGAINST EVERY CHALLENGER AND RPG LEVELS ARE A REAL THING IN UNIVERSE AND UM"
>>54258924>You need experts to teach you proper strategy Okay, then hire one.
Gym leaders being expected to do that to an insane degree on top of all of their other duties is absurd.
>the vast majority of people in the Pokemon world aren't Pokemon trainersHave you never played a Pokemon game in your life?
>that only the best of the best can make a career This has nothing to do with your or my argument. Gym leaders ALREADY work regular jobs, especially ones that are hugely demanding like modelling, being a pilot, running major businesses, police work, etc. Getting slapped with the responsibility to make sure lil Timmy-I mean Timotha feels le heckin valid and seen by losing deliberately to his shitmons is the most degrading shit I've ever heard.
