How the fuck did magikarp evolve into this? Was there even any water pokemon big enough for this thing to leech on? Maybe it was designed back when real animals existed with Pokémon. Leeches make screeches. Leeches eat peaches. All of God's creatures deserve to get leecher.

Magikarp originally evolved to Dragonite.
This worm was a single stage pokemon.
Dratini and Dragonite were a 2 stage line.
They replaced the worm with Gyarados and switched the evolutions.

Was that ever confirmed? Dragonite and Magikarp only share those little wisker things. Most dragons tend to have those in Asian mythology so that could just be a design thing for dragons. Dratini and Dragonair just look to appropriate next to dragonite. Dratini has the nose and Dragonair has the horn. Dragonair also has those little wings on it's head that end up on Dragonite's back. The Leech being single stage and having the Dragon wiskers is also interesting and also leads me to believe it was just a design choice for dragons and dragon like Pokemon early on.
