A huge part of merch sales is releasing new pokemon to make merch of. The tcg for instance is a huge example of this. So maybe a compromise? Add new mons to various vehicles like the anime, card game, spinoff, and then slap those into your extended release window?

BDSP existed to let PLA have extra development time and despite being only 3 months, it was absolutely worth the wait and gave us one of the best games since Gen 5.

Yeah, it's called "handle the fact a kid's brand targets children and works towards selling itself at children better". I could understand of this was an adult IP that regressed but when it was only ever Anon's, when Anon was 7 like the rest of the target audience, getting pissy it ignores you at 17 or 27 just proves your complete lack of self-awareness.
