What happened to Lorelei between RSEFRLG and DPPHGSS? (3-year-timeline)

Lorelei is one of the Elite Four in FRLG but is not even mentioned to exist in HGSS. What happened to her?

Here are my ideas:
> She retired to the Sevii Islands which were planned for HGSS but scrapped
> She is now dead (between the timelines, so it wouldn't be on the news by the time of HGSS)
> She was defeated by Will and/or Koga which meant new Elite member
> She ended up in an Ultra Wormhole
