Just go to youtube and search "gba mod" and you will get endless shilling for the latest chink mod parts. It ranges from no-solder drop-in parts that a child could do to advanced soldering and 3d printing. It's up to you how hard you want it.

I traded on the Gameboy once in my life. I had a copy of Ruby, and I wanted Deoxy from a kid's Leaf Green. He was one of those kids with events on top of bringing his two wireless links everywhere. However, everyone else brought their Gameboy, but no one was autistic enough to either get the adaptor or carry it.

For me genuinely Arceus
Something about completing and perfecting each pokemon before advancing to the next area just hit right for me
Gen 3 was a wild ride across a shitload of games tho which was nice

The GBA was a great system, and I love these classic 2D graphics.

But I don't miss the pre-WiFi era much. Being able to battle and trade online completely reignited my love for the series.

Put a backlight in my dmg. It's all the original screen, just the mirror on the back was cut out and now replaced by a light panel. Looks dusty because I was playing in full ass sunlight

I miss when games had full connection (albeit with form exceptions like Gen 3 Deoxys, Giratina, Shaymin, the genies, Keldeo, etc.), but as soon as I saw the XY ruleset in ORAS it was a bad omen
I get it for games like PLA, but I do miss those days

Yeah, this was the saddest side effect of dexit for me. Now games in the same gen can't connect directly. Only thing you can do is move a Pokemon between games through Home if it's in that game.

Desoldering and cleaning the switch seems like a massive pain in the ass, should I just buy a new power switch and replace the old one? I'd like to continue with my mods but this is holding me back.

Replacement switches retail for about $5. Parts are plentiful and inexpensive. Even the fuses are like $10 for a dozen, though I'm not sure how to measure the voltage across the fuse to see if that's the problem. That damn thing is tiny.

3rd gen is best gen! Never played a newer version. The only pokemon I still play every now and then (working on my living-dex, breeding, playthrough with custom team (trade lvl 5 team at first pokemoncenter)etc.).
I also made sure I got all the games (bought then years ago before the hype) - Ruby/Saphire/Emerald/FR/LG/Colosseum/XD and of course Pokemon box. I also have a GC-GBA player so I can enjoy the Game on my TV.
