At least with Glowking it's actually a Pokemon this time unlike Paresect where it's just an unnamed parasite. Glowking is basically a really smart Shellder.

oddly, the anime suggests the Shellder can willingly detach itself, and the Slowpoke doesn't seem to mind very much if at all. it happens alongside a johto one in that episode with the curry rap battle
