>>54289506The best explanation I can think of is that at least one person in charge of making these decisions believes it would be bad to give a bunch of pokemon new animations if they don't all get new animations, which would be an unreasonable strain on resources. I can't think of another good reason NOT to give new animations to the aces of major characters.
Also, PLA's battles looked a lot nicer than SWSH's or SV's, and I feel like there's something important to be sussed out in this fact.
