Gen 1 and 2 are very basic and rather boring
RS has a couple questionable points, but it's my personal favorite. Much more interesting characters. Would recommend if you're interested.
Emerald is the smogon arc with an unlikable OC, dont bother
FRLG is ok but forgettable, can skip
DPPt is probably the arc I'd recommend reading if you just want to read one arc and be done with the manga. The protag aren't my favorite individually, but they are very strong as a trio, and the arc has an overall humorous lighthearted tone which lets the heavier events have more weight. It's good
HGSS is kinda cool but I also did not fucking remember ANYTHING that happened in it until a reread. Can skip
I found BW's protags to be kind of boring but the overall plot makes up for it. Read if you're interested.
BW2, well, it had ideas, but this was the point where they had to start rushing arcs to keep up with the game releases, so those ideas kind of just shat on the floor. Only read if you want closure to BW.
XY is again, rushed, as are all the following arcs, but it does manage to work around it and get the story it wanted in. Interesting take on the game's plot. Read if you're interested.
ORAS is something I favor a little bit because I just enjoy Ruby and Sapphire as protags, but due to some plot circumstances, the story is retarded. Could read if you want to see the Zinnia fug but I wouldn't put it high on the list.
SM+USM are generally weak with both mediocre protags and plot. Don't be ashamed to skip it
Last I checked up on SS, it wasn't super interesting, but it is a bit novel for sorta fixing Rose. Could read if you're curious enough.
