What's up with this canned response of "genners don't actually like playing the game"? The games are about exploring a region while catching mons and making your bros stronger. Raising competitive Pokemon is just grinding. Grinding for whatever Pokemon and grinding for the items. Even if it doesn't take that long any more, it still isn't fun, it still isn't that the game is actually about. No one enjoys making a competitive Pokemon because it isn't the same thing as the base game. If anything, genning so you can spend more time playing in challenging battles is closer to playing the game then grinding the same battles over and over again without any thought.
