Or maybe it was BW2 specifically, I'm not sure, the shitty player character designs didn't help. Also I hated the Kyurem "fusions", I think Kyurem was perfect in BW1 and very creepy too.
Anyway DP was mid, Platinum was great but not as great as Soulsilver, which in turn will never top Emerald which I still play today because I am retarded and in 15 years I never managed to get all the symbols. My favourite is FRLG because it was my first game but Emerald objectively just tops everything in spite of being the 2nd ugliest pokemon game.
I never played RBY, only watched my brother playing Red and it seemed good, even as a kid I could notice there were some things that it did cooler than FRLG.
I did also play Silver and Crystal on VBA in the 2010s but I never got to Kanto. They are prettier (especially the pokemon sprites) and the music is fantastic but HGSS is the better gen 2 experience for me.
