Is it worth it?
I've been playing since Yellow and was severely disappointed with Shield and Scarlet.
PLA looks like the actual gameplay could be fun but does the empty overworld make it boring?
Would love to get your honest thoughts.

The storyline is boring and tedious as fuck but if you enjoy the actual stalking and catching of Pokemon it's quite fun.

I enjoyed it, the empty world can be kinda boring but its manageable. Not the best but it was fun and fresh for pokemon, id say go for it

It was somewhat satisfying if you have a checklist mentality and I liked that I was able to build a shiny and alpha team easily and didn't overlevel myself

i find it very boring. t\the only semi fun/challenging part are the boss battles against the raging Pokémon but all the characters you interact with are either bland or completely unlikeable. the single exception somehow being the amnesiac subway driver. i played it on and off but i never got around to finishing because i just don't give a enough of a shit to grind out more pokedex entries. i think i got to the snowpoint area before i quit months ago.

Regardless of your opinion on the game's quality, it's a wholly unique experience compared to the boring clones that came after Gen 1. I think for that reason alone it's worth it for any Pokemon fan to see the Pokemon world taken in a completely new direction for once
