6.5/10, ORAS is a way superior remake and Legends is an immensely superior comeback. They have the dullest region/s of them all and basically no major strong element to them. They're also one of the very few pokemon games that didnt add any new Pokemon at all. Theyre the worst pokemon games DS-wise as well. Even their legendaries barely represent anything at all and have a dull af theme compared to basically every other legendary. They let you visit 2 regions, but hows that a pro when every route is the same green boring shit beige vomit path and fences over and over?

The only things they really added to the series were the celebi event and the arceus event, which were only accessible for like 1 week. Also the connection they make with the unown and arceus isnt irrelevant, but regardless its a shade of relavance in a game that has nothing new, not even a damn basic plot with the recycling of team rocket and with you meeting the legendary because yes, a random chooses to gift you the magical item.
Also today theyre unplayable and boring as hell. They were cool in 2010, but thats it.

What were you smoking when you played ORAS? The originals are way less of a cakewalk and Emerald is still the definitive way to experience Hoenn.

HGSS will always reign as the definitive way to experience Johto, especially with how GF dumbs down Pokemon games to be cake walk no brain playthrough, the only issue with the Johto remakes I can think of is not fixing gym leader teams (like, they couldn't give Jasmine a Magneton or Magnezone, or give Pyrce a Mamoswine?) and the terrible level curve.

True, but that's beside the point, the 6th and 7th gym leader shouldn't have unevolved Pokemon, Jasmine having only 2 Magnemites is the kicker here, they should have given her a Magneton at least as well as another Gen 2 steel type, like Scizor or Skarmory, Pokemmo gave her both and her fight feels way more appropriate thanks for it.

Bugsy could've easily been fixed by evolving his Kakuna and Metapod or by giving him a Ledian and Ariados. Scyther is already a pretty tough opponent for a second gym leader tbf.

No excuse for Chuck though, that man needs a Heracross and/or Hitmontop in his team.

I mean ORAS distance themselves enough from the originals to be able to have their own personality and work as a standalone, being even lore-wise an alternate dimension. They have way more content than Emerald and the difficulty of the main story is alright with ex share off. They also have the best legendary trio rehearsal yet, their new designs and even competitively being still incredible, something that not even Legends managed with those 2 horseshit (literally) forms.

I dont know about that, I kinda cant stand the general style of them at all, I found myself more entartained by replaying Crystal as I like the layout, OST and retro artstyle more. Anyway I can't really disagree with that, if they failed at being superior than the originals theyd be plain puke material like lgpe and bdsp. that's not the point, the point is that Johto itself is the least inspired region and that hgss arent the best at anything really.

HGSS wasn't the last good game, that was probably B2W2, but the latter doesn't even come close to comparison. Pokewalker, crossplay with DPP, tons of content, and more. It was the best of the traditionally designed Pokemon games and remains so to this day.

Johto privilege is real, every other game is just half assed. Even gen1 cut features like breeding while gen2 added it back. I hate how Johto got all the actual effort both times while the regions I actually like got half assed remakes. Even fucking KANTO never had a simple Battle Tower after two remakes. Meanwhile Gen2 and its more watered down Kanto is the favored child with a pack in addon and features like a brand new game.
Can you imagine BDSP with even half the same effort?

That's just the bare minimum shit we should've EXPECTED from a remake. ORAS didn't even get the berry blending minigame, not even counting the game corner they never replaced with anything at all. Why is it Game Freak sits on their ass until JOHTOOO comes up? They all act like they wanted to make the goat game but only for Johto, any other game, new or old is just half assed.

Masuda saying absurdities doesnt change that the consumerist is someone that would buy the same game, HGSS, not the one that would buy one that has actually more content. Your argument is that ORAS didnt have content that already existed replaced with something new? Hell, the 3D alone makes it worthier buying than all HGSS. this is a fundamental misunderstanding of the mechanic, there are only like 6 pokemon locked behind dailies (and several of them, like metang, can be obtained outside of the safari zone anyway)
the intent was also clearly to get people to share their custom safaris with other players online but you obviously cant do that anymore on an emulator in 2023

Jesus Christ anon, please go back even by emulation and play the GBA and DS era Pokemon games, if you haven't played them you're missing out on some of the best Pokemon games out there. Trust me there's a lot more to Pokemon remakes than making them more challenging and adding fucking Mantine surfing.

Well, I wasn't a child, didn't care for the nu-gen distraction "content" and preferred Platinum as an experience (an opinion held by most of 2010's /vp/). So anyone who does hold an opinion as OP's clearly didn't play the originals, thus must be of Gen 4 vintage (as Hoennbabs all claim Emerald is best-in-series).
