>>54323061>$90 (even if was $180) is not a high barrier of entry when the top prize in the competition for the VGC is $10,000.You say that like it's guaranteed in any way. It may as well be the same philosophy behind lottery tickets. You'd be stupid to dump all your money into them just because the payout is big. Players are taking an L just by attending, which is more than enough.
>The TCG can probably be expensive (even though i know you could probably get a decent deck for like $30) It isn't really comparable because Pokemon games have the initial cost as its barrier to entry; buying singles or complete card decks is the TCG's initial barrier. If anything, it'd be far more accurate to say buying an older game and its dlc is akin to being forced to buy an older TCG booster box in hopes you pull the card you need instead of just getting to buy singles and be done with it. It divides your money and ultimately has your spending more than you otherwise need.
>competitively viable Pokemon like Urshifu, stuff from Arceus etc can always appear in other games during the generationThe issue is within the now, not the future. Let alone when there's no guarantee anyhow of either of those happening.
>So all you need is to find someone to trade.Have you even seen GTS? Either way, it'd be far easier to still just gen the Pokemon in, especially if it doesn't matter in the end. This changes nothing because it doesn't address the underlying issue of getting them in the first place. If the end result was truly all that matters, TPC wouldn't be so anal about genning to begin with. Hacking is hacking, no matter how little or irrelevant. What're they going to do? Condone it? It's illegal in Japan, and generally frowned upon for piracy reasons.
