Honestly this gen really didn't do it for me, there were more misses than hits, which is a first since i usually am not that critical when it comes to designs

There are just too few original mons. Feels like the dexes in gens 8 and 9 are so small, even compared to XY, because each type will get maybe one rep, and then the rest are legends and/or pokemon that are directly and indirectly tied to previous designs. A big new dex that has few ties to previous games would be a breath of fresh air at this point.

most gen 7 pokemon designs are ok at best and fucking terrible at worst (bruxish is one of the worst designs in the entire franchise). the only gen 7 mons i think are better than just ok are decidueye, vikavolt and golisopod. with gen 9 there are multiple designs that i like: skeledirge, kilowattrel, ceruledge, toedscruel, annihilape and kingambit just to name a few.

I like Spidops conceptually, but it looks so… generic? Maybe its the coloring and the fucking stupid shiny, idfk. Black, gray or brown would've done it so much better, maybe some reflective green eyes - and it would've fit with the whole spy agent theme a lot better too

Like Gen 8, it’s mostly a dud. Very disappointing coming from what I view as two solid Gens with 6 and 7.

If it wasn't for the paradoxes (which I either dislike entirely or feel apathetic towards) this would've been an ok dex. But it lacks the kind of cohesion you see in gens 1-3, arguably 4, and gen 7. There's accounting for taste to be had with this batch, and while I don't outright HATE that many, there's only a few knockouts here for me personally (Cyclizar, Garganacl, Ceruledge, Kilowattrel, Lokix, and Grafaiai)

Notice the DLC gives you proper new Pokemon instead of new regional evo and whatnot. This will be how GF makes money from now on, make the laziest shit possible and then sell the new designs as DLC
