>>54328537>ya’ll>implying I’m a smogonfagYou better actually be a Southerner if you’re using that word. I almost exclusively play casually, so most of my viewpoint comes from that perspective. My limited pvp experience + theorycrafting informs the rest.
>mega evolution It’s basically no different than having a regular strong pokemon on your team. Sure, there’s some added flair, but it’s functionally not all that different.
>z-movesAgain, it’s most commonly the same as having a strong attack on a pokemon. It can be an “X factor” when you need additional damage or an answer to a specific threat, but it’s not something that dictates or changes how the game is played for the most part.
>dynamaxIt’s so powerful that you are essentially forced to interact with the mechanic, and it undeniably shakes up the way the game is played in a way that previous mechanics did not. That’s what I mean when I say “overcentralizing”. It’s fine for those who enjoy the mechanic, but it’s intrusive for those who don’t. The aesthetics / theming are also (obviously) subjective. Tera has similar issues, though I do think it is more balanced. I just hate that the gimmicks have become “the game” instead of niche utility / visual flair.
