Smogon the games are a lot faster. Interest dwindles as people try out everything they want and the meta game evolves at a faster rate that you have to play everyday and adjust to make it to the top tiers.

The NA and EU VGC players all test each other on Smogon while the Japs play actual cart. It's funny because the Japs always come up with some new tech while everyone else tries to brute force offense besides maybe Wolfe who will try something different just to cheese but that's how it is: they're too lazy to gen mons to play on cart most of the time unless it's someone like Moxie Boosted who does it for views and doesn't give a fuck because he has an alt account for that.

I think so, or at least they aren't as inclined to just copy someone's entire team from Showdown and ride it to meaningless ELO on the ladder. I know Sub Leech Seed Sub Tropius was a big thing at the top of the ladder for a bit just because Japan was abusing it and nothing could stop it till answered for. Funny shit.

Both
It's rare for a battle to last more than 15 minutes, but the timer on Showdown is double the amount the one ingame if I recall correctly, so this may not be true on Showdown

Dynamax was only banned after a super majority community poll. It’s a community ran format so the community should be allowed to decide their own restrictions. Tera was polled and didn’t meet the requirement for a ban. But even if Tera was banned there would still be formats that allowed it.
You retards always act like showdown is ran by 5 people who ban everything they don’t like. If your answer to something being unfair and broken is “play around it” then you know jack shit about pokemon battling

Japan's VGC circuit is very different than the West. NA and EU are best-of-three open team sheet. JP is best-of-one closed team sheet. The West wants consistency in their teams. Japan wants "how can I pull off my cheese before my opponent figures it out." The team-building win conditions are so different they might as well be different games. That said, because ranked battles on cart are effectively the JP rules, they practice on cart because everyone is playing by those rules. People on Showdown may or may not be building teams for that style of rules so there's no guarantee you'll get the matchup experience you want from playing on Showdown as a Japanese player.
