Gen5 has its problems, but most of the hate is from Genwunners still seething that they had to use new Pokémon in a new region and Unova and its roster existed for their own sake instead of being “glorified RBY DLC” that “can’t stand on it’s own” like Johto apparently was.

I lurk and post relatively frequently. It's mostly hated because it dumbs the games down even more than normal, the shit story and characters, and it removed classic features. And the disaster for the franchise that was dream world.

I dislike it for the rivals, story, linearity, and the fact that it takes place in burgerland with nigger npcs everywhere. The actual pokemon aren't really high on the list of grievances, but the fact that so many are clearly just retreads of KANTOOOOOmons did suck.

How do people even enjoy going back to the Gen 5 games knowing that a big part of it is permanently inaccessible? Even the GTS was revived with fan servers.

Finally, an actually good take.

Excluding DP, I’d say that BW1 are the worst from gen 3-5. They’re still better than just about every game from gen 6 onwards but things like fighting your rivals too much bring it down a bit.

BW2 is literally the peak of the series though, right up there with Emerald and Platinum
