Honestly I just think they made weird bodytypes like that to cover up the fact that every single NPC is just copy pasted from like 3 exact same templates but with different colors. It's just laziness.

Yeah I honestly think that's what it is. Japanese people barely understand this Western "wokeness" trend, I seriously doubt they care at all about pandering to it specifically. It's just a lazy way to make NPCs seem diverse, in the literal/technical sense. They removed a lot trainer classes so they have to make up for that somehow.
