I know I shouldn't care but whenever I catch a mon and see that it has a bad nature for its stat distribution which happens every FUCKING time, I can't help but feel disappointed. It literally doesn't matter unless I've decided to do battle tower shit, and even then it's probably better just to breed for a good mon if I'm doing that shit instead.
I'm sure some smogon autistic fuck will lecture me on why the change was so important, but I kind of miss when you didn't have to worry about min maxing shit like natures and limited EVs.

With the advent of mints and vitamins being more accessible than ever I think at this point it definitely is. Though I did like building mons around their natures instead of optimal builds though for the main story content. Always lets you play differently.

Natures are the most obnoxious for a casual run, ironically because the game tells you them upfront. Even if you're an ignorant child, later generations specifically tell you which stats are being raised and lowered by your nature. And it doesn't take a genius to realize that a +Atk -Sp. Atk Alakazam is trash.

Yes, but autism can make the games more fun. I don't need natures to be beneficial, but I need them to match the way I imagine my pokemon's personality. Like I know Timid and Modest are optimal natures on Roserade, but it just feels wrong to have such a flamboyant pokemon described as either of those. So I would rather have a Rash or Hasty nature.

I'd say caring about nature isn't autistic as long as you aren't trying to catch the perfect nature, because the game outright tells you what that nature does. I always go for an inconsequential nature at least.
What's slightly more autistic is resetting for gender, but it's normal to associate some pokemon with certain genders.

Not intrinsically. For example, having a -spatk nature on a pokemon that is a pure special attacker fucking sucks and you do notice that something is wrong, even in-game.

I only care if it negatively affects their most important stat, especially attack stats.
