You can just try casually playing it to see how you like it on Showdown first before you invest in grinding out teams on cart but really if you aren't a competitive person irl you prob won't care for dealing with the legendaries you gotta fight on cart (if you plan to play on cart).

Cart can be fun if you have that much free time but you really are limited with how much you can do with time and in game resources unless you really wanna waste a lot of them to play legit (you can just gen the smart way to play comp cart but that's a whole other conversation).
