>>54353874I still play the series so I'm not sure. It's had so many ups and downs. I played gen 2 for the first time a few months back, since I started with Blue, but skipped gen 2 and then had gen 3. Most I played of gen 2 was my friend's completed file, thinking how crazy it was that Kanto was there, although I remember feeling the music not being present as much as in gen 1 Kanto felt haunting as a kid, but the comfy way while playing a Gameboy late at night. I just thought Silver looked fucking amazing for a Gameboy game when playing it this year and I'd rate those games 8/10, gen 3 was so special to me as a kid, but it's 6/10 for sure and gen 4 was maybe 7/10 but I preferred gen 3 at the time. Gen 5 I skipped until they announced Black 2 and White 2 and I thought okay I'll try this shit since this seems cool and then I fucking loved Black 2 since the region was made so much better. Gen 6 I poured so much time into as a cope, going to the effort of filling the NAT Dex just because of how empty it felt in comparison to Black 2, so I hated how ORAS added cutscenes and more story, while removing the frontier and tower and comparing it to gen 2 remakes was painful. Then gen 7 I thought they must have gotten used to 3D games and it was still so shit. USUM felt like a chore also, they've just been adding long unskippable cutscenes and shit that takes you off the path to tell you about how to surf to the next island on a Mantine. Fucking SwSh was also bad and didn't bother with the DLC because I borrowed from a friend and SV was pretty fucking good in spite of how shitty it looks and performs technically, but trying to play it again without starting over is a bitch because wtf is the point with no national dex to finish? DLC looks exciting though.
7/10 overall. Most of my fondness is in the past for Colosseum series and HGSS.
