Funny enough the guy who made Pkhex (Kurt) seethes over people using genned pokemon during official tournaments and exposes genned teams. Seeing the comments, it's nothing but enraged VGC players telling him to stop. Then he keeps updating the program. The whole thing is a shit show.

Let's unpack this. Any form of e-sport is supposed to be to the benefit of the company NOT for the players, they are a business afterall and not running some charity. Due to this, it doesn't matter how rich the company is, which you seem to think changes anything. I'd be surprised if competitive pokemon directly results in a lot of people to go out and buy the games/merch, it's niche and thus there is no incentive for them to invest in it like that.

i said no such thing, if people want to compete they should put the time in to build their team part of the appeal of pokemon is catching and training your pokemon. it's only in pokemon that you see this kind of seething entitlement from the pros. in any other video game or even sport people do what they gotta do such as training all week or going to the gym etc

I think most of these VGCucks feel this way because TPCi hasn't been enforcing the rules for years. Now that they are doing it and making it more difficult, they are having a meltdown. It's the very definition of entitlement. I've read some pretty batshit and insane stuff from these people who clearly have no idea how the world works. It at least makes for good entertainment.

Most people don't like "hackmons" and there are communities out there that will blacklist you if you use genned mons. This whole ordeal is pretty much a VGC issue. Something many don't even know or care about.

Not really a good comparison, those are like using invalid stats/movesets/abilities etc. A hard ban on genning is like telling athletes they have to build their own equipment.

Other video games don't make you play a different game to prepare for a tournament. I don't have to play Animal Crossing for 20 hours before I'm able to play League; I can just play League. Pokemon makes you play a boring, grind, single player game before it lets you play the multiplayer. Or you can just skip the single player and inject an identical team down to the bytes. It's no surprise, then, that everyone does just this.

He's got a point. The entire premise of Mythicals being illegal in competitive is not everyone has access to them. The legal Pokemon should only come from the current game, so you only need to buy the latest game if you want to jump in. It's one thing to let players trade up a current gen legal Pokemon from a past game. It's entirely different to have that Pokemon ONLY be from a past game.

It's inherently not a different game. Playing through the game like that is the intended way. If you don't actually play the game, the single player adventure and train your pokemon, then you don't compete, simple as that. Play smogon if all you want is instant battles
