>>54418260I have a few thoughts on this:
>gatekeeping these arts as high rarity cards just makes the in-set cards sufferHow? Those in-set cards look fine, good even, in most instances too. Sure this Snorunt would look good with a window and normal layout, but this seems to imply that the normal layout version of this Snorunt will have inherently less "soulful" artwork which seems like a strange line of thought to me? Especially since people keep going on about soulful cards from previous eras of the TCG.
>Sugi artNo longer used in the TCG lol
>3D [model] junk/plain artOn the latter, are you suggesting that the artwork confined to frames in regular cards is inherently "plain?" I really don't get your logic here. If anything you're assigned something to the art rares and making it a competition between them and regular arts, when in reality those art rares are just intended as a neat little bonus, hence why they have full artwork to distinguish from regular cards. People complain when art rares are less prevalent (see SwSh era and previous) and seem to complain when we get more of them for arbitrary reasons too. And as for the former, the 3D shit is relegated to ex, and not even every ex is 3D art anyway (though most are granted).
>they unironically [feel] "robbed" if their rare sloot is taken by a regular rare or even normal holo Wasn't SwSh Crown Zenith literally just a few months ago and a "zoomer" set by default too? But I agree with you. As much as I like regular holos in SV, they shouldn't be guaranteed. And I don't care for reverse rares but they've made it easier for people to complete master sets now, which is surely a good thing towards making the hobby more collector-oriented rather than investor -oriented?
>"fuck the normal cards" for the most partAnon, 8/9 out of 10 are still normal cards lol, and if anything the ex cards are a regression back to "half-arts," or in other words regular ultra rares, last seen 6-7 years ago in the XY era.
