My issue with running in circles is that spinning the thumbstick doesn't give any feedback, and visually inspecting every spawn requires way more attention than SOS chaining or soft resetting, so it's far harder to shiny hunt while watching TV.
I don't think it's good for soft resetting to be the primary method of shiny hunting, by the way. There's a reason people only use it when hunting unique encounters. So comparing sandwiches to soft resetting is NOT a good look for sandwiches.
