>>54393254For casual fans, yes. Anyone can literally "experience" a Pokemon game because it is designed specifically to appeal to a general audience. There's a fan for almost every single aspect of Pokemon, we are both aware of that by now.
However the entire atmosphere of competitive Pokemon is that its for people who wanna go to the next level; playing the battle side of the series in a more PvP heavy environment. You cannot sit there and tell me spending several hours like a sitting duck is "learning" the competitive side of the series. Breeding isn't going to get me better at the game, nor give me cash pool prizes at regionals/worlds. Is it a means to get to the end? Yes, but by that point why bother wasting my time tediously forming a team when I can just boot up PKhex, and get the same results and streamline the process of actually enjoying VGC. What's stopping me or you, shitting your pants at the mere thought of me giving a shit about VGC?
You know what actually is playing competitive Pokemon? Being an autist and learning meta match-ups, formulating a team, learning predicting, synergies. Genners aren't these boogeymen you think they are. The culture exists because Gamefreak made it unreasonably hard to get into one of the biggest aspects of the game. You shouldn't be such a nigger about people genning when it leads to the same result anyway.
And before your dumbass says "M-MUH ITS EASIER NOW", still is hilarious that in 2023, I still have to waste time making a team and waste money getting everything together. Instead of accommodating the playerbase with an actual battle sim among other things.
