this is nu-gen revisionism, Johto is the meat of the game, Kanto was a (fun) victory lap to prepare for Red (who you ironically have to go back to Johto to fight)

yes, Unova and ORAS have natdex, all moves, and optional exp share so that alone makes them better than all the switch games. let's not forget that LGPE and PLA remove abilities and held items and SV removes set mode and optional battle animations. Unova and ORAS did neither of those things
