Anyone want to join me in building all of Paldea in Minecraft? I ripped the heightmaps from the ROM and stitched them together to create a full heightmap of Paldea, which I imported into Minecraft. I still need to adjust the scaling, but it would provide an easy base to work with. The main problems is that 1. Many geographical details, like cliffs and caves, are not present on the heightmap (obviously due to having more details that are not possible with a heightmap), so we'd have to do them manually. This can be seen clearly with the cliffs surrounding Area Zero, which are not present at all (the jaggedness in the top right of Area Zero is not a glitch, that is how it actually appears on the heightmap). 2. The heightmap is not very detailed vertically, meaning we'd have to smooth out the terrain manually. This can be done partially with the //smooth command in WorldEdit, but would require manual input in some places. And 3. Mesagoza and Area Zero are not present, as they are fully modelled and not part of the heightmap. If we can find the models for them, we'd be able to import the terrain for them (as well as all the missing cliffs etc.) with BlockBlender, but for now we'll have to leave them out until we can figure it out. Area Zero will also probably have to be a seperate map due to how far it goes down. I have labelled some landmarks to make it easier to see. If you are familiar with the game it should make sense.
A similar project is being done for BotW, which uses the same method of using the heightmap as a base and building on it: https://youtu.be/Zu1Li_RZrQU?si=A9wlDzOvc4KY4UNC
So, if anyone is interested, I can set up a server and we can start preparing and building. I mainly need someone who is good at landscaping and terraforming, as we are gonna need a lot of terrain made for the map, but anyone can come and help build.
If anyone is curious, Paldea is just under 5k x 5k in size, if the heightmap is 1:1 (which it appears to be from my tests).
