There's nothing wrong with the idea. I can't speak to them in practice because I am never playing any of the dogshit games they have them, but they're a fine idea. Weathers were a good idea and so are terrains. Anything that incentivises synergy like this.

I kinda wish they would change Keckleon's Color Change ability to change it's type and color based on which Terrain is up like a counterpart to Castforms weather form change. Cause Color Change as is complete crap

In general? They're not bad. They give another avenue to a weather-like field control. And needing to be grounded keeps it different.

In Masters? Masters desperately wants a terrain for every type so they made up their own... but gave those no unique abilities sadly.

They have "[type] Wish" which makes a type boosting terrain. So you get sync pairs like this:

Sygna Suit Cyrus & Darkrai
>Dark Void - same as main games, hits all
>Dark Pulse - same as main games
>trainer move - 2 use, ups SpAtk & Accuracy
>Dark Wish - 2 use, turns ground into a Dark Zone, powers up Dark moves until fades

I don’t know if Fairy or Electric were the types that needed it desu. (Psychic is fine, and grass I’m okay with)
I’d much rather have a Rocky Terrain thrown up instead.
I know they’re linked to the tapus, but especially at the time it’s not like Fairy of all things needed a boost

Fun fact, the terrains were actually introduced in gen 6 and the tapus were designed based on them and not the other way around.

Fairy's terrain is the least helpful by a huge margin. All the others boost a type, but Misty just halves Dragon which fairies are immune to anyway, so who gives a shit

It's not like misty terrain gives any advantage to fairy Pokemon in particular or provides any offensive pressures like the other terrains do. It's more 'anti-dragon' terrain than anything else.

They are alright, but I would have liked if they were a bit broader in scope and what types they benefited. Like one terrain contained multiple types that it is associated with which could lead to interesting team combinations. For example, a high mountain terrain would contain rock, flying and dragon. A 'modern' terrain would have steel, poison and electric, etc.

I think they're cool in concept but the secondary effects on them feel really arbitrary aside from Grassy's heal. I could see psychic maybe being something like 'you can see your opponent's priority moves before they make them' or something like that but it's a stretch.
