gen 5 for me is weird. It has the most pokemon I despise but it has just as many Pokemon as every other gen minus 6 that I love. 6 is the one I'd say has the worst dex as I care much more about shit I love than shit I hate. Who cares if Simisear looks like a literal retard if I haven't seen it in game in 10 years

so much of the dex is extremely obvious padding because they had to force themselves to make the region only new pokemon.

true, and don't forget they're both virtually strictly better in terms of competition

I think there'd be a lot of rejoicing of how many mistakes which permanently marred and blotted the national dex would be gone.

Punova's dex was not a masterpiece or labor of love, it was a lazy and low effort mishmash of half-baked ideas meant to fit a mold, with no care given to ugliness and generic coolness and sensicality (literal chandelier, literal sarcophagus, etc.)
