Unova as a region is a bland linear circle filled with the most garbage routes in the series.
The Pokemon gen 5 brought to us are universally hated and often times make up the majority of the worst Pokemon in the series lists. In the big Jap poll we had recently, there was lik 3 unova pokemon in the top 50, out of the bottom 10 eight (8) were occupied by unova pokemon with simisear being voted the absolute worst pokemon in the series.
Gen 5 pokemon look like rick and morty garbage as well as cereal box mascots. They have the least amount of quality put into them of any other gens Pokemon, having no quality control what so ever.
Gen 5 was also designed from the ground up to be an easier experience after kids struggled with Mt Coronet. The elite 4 got neutered going from having 5 Pokemon to 4. Infinitely usable TMs casualized the ever living shit out of the game allowing you to just teach all of your Pokemon shit like earthquake and other powerful moves.

Your rivals are also a joke in these games, using mostly shitmons like the pidove line and the elemental monkeys all while having garbage movesets, suboptimal stats and 0 EV investment which both gen 4 and gen 7 actually had those things with optimal movepools.
The writing of the games is also cringeworthy as fuck.
