Your post made me realize just how many signature moves were introduced in Gen9. Even that route 1 bug shitmon got one and it's pretty good. Although I can see that one spreading to other bugs over time. Kinda nuts

I would be ok with them if they were given to Pokemon in later gets, but that feels impossible now that Move and Ability names are getting so hyperspecific to the Pokemon with them that there's no chance any other Pokemon will ever get that as an option.
Plus they've been waaaay too OP lately like jesus

It was more of a thing in Gen 1 if anything because moves we now consider to be generic were only present on one or two Pokemon (e.g. glare).

This has been a thing since gen 1. Literally half the dex had signature moves. Barrage, Kinesis, Lovely Kiss, Bone Club, Crabhammer, Conversion, etc... All ultra specific moves that either were, or still are, exclusive moves to these Pokemon.

I swear this board hasn't even played a single game in this series that you all spend so much time shitposting about.
