Its also like one of the only things in pokemon that dont have a lore or a sense. Unless its a literal birth defect/gene deformation, since team rocket evolves forcedly the red gyarados

Yes, but I'm not very serious about it. I think I have around 20 shinies and most of them are from PLA/SV where it's comically easy.

I guess its cool that the pokemon games have so many different ways to be enjoyed.... competitive, making a living dex, nuzlocke/challenges and shiny hunting is one of them. But personally, I just don't get it. Hours and hours of doing the same thing over and over and over again just for a sprite that is a slightly different color than the others? Whats more, that "reward" as become so devalued because of hacker/injectors. At this point if I see a shiny I dont even think twice about it.

Same here for me. If it's not a Friend Safari, SOS battle, SV outbreak, or GSC breeding I don't bother.
I don't even bother with PLA hunting anymore after they patched outbreak resetting.

Gotta admit, the set up does look pretty cool, specifically with how the TVs are set up in the alcove, but that is *way* too much. As someone who has 2 of each of the gba hoenn games to make shiny hunting more bearable, I can understand but Jesus 16 GameCubes, dude?

I used to, mostly with SOS chaining in Ultra Moon, then outbreak hunting in Legends Arceus. I have about 80 shinies overall.
