>Gen 1"Ugh, is full of bugs and muh betamons". Many games back in the day were proof of concept. The first game was the test, and if it did ok, then you make a sequel that goes all in. Happened with fallout, happened with pokemon, it happened specially with metal gear on the MSX. That's why Yellow is the most stable to play.
>Gen 2"Ugh, muh distribution and more betamons". Many were just basically ballons due to limitations on the console. Also, I would say the distribution thing was just something right at the time: Johto was a new land, and even old Kanto had differences. You just weren't expecting what to find.
>Gen 3"Ugh, my postgame and shitmons". This was a reboot attempt, and it worked. With the GBA basically being a portable SNES, many developers (GF included) could improve on the formula. The first dexcut was hard, but it made sense for them to make those changes from an economic standpoint. We also had interesting spinoffs like XD and Coliseum. This is where they actually try with a competitive scene.
>Gen 4"Ugh, my slowness and split". It's slow, yeah. It's annoying coming from the old games, yeah. Mt Coronet is shit, yeah. But the split helped the competitive scene, and Sinnoh was an interesting place with ACTUAL ELEVATION. Was the start of 2.5D, and the tunes are cool. My favs are the night ones. And the pokemon were interesting to use.
>Gen5+I haven't played them, but they complain 5 is basically Hoenn 2.0, only that it didn't worked.
All I'm trying to say is tell those fuckers "fuck you, I'm having fun". By the time they could've enjoyed the game, you passed it and will be enjoying another thing. Them? They will only lose time screaming about how miserable they are with weak arguments. Flip them off, and have fun.
