People built their teams with stronger counterplay to Dozo-Giri (Haze on Pokemon like Palafin was the big one) and with Regulation D you have Urshifu critting through your Commander buffs
Dondozo's managed to find itself a niche on its own as a bulky physical wall in the current format although it isn't as common as before - made an appearance in Day 2 of Worlds

I mean every game has a meta, and typically the best way to do well is to bring a meta team. Trying to make an anti meta team is hard and can backfire if your preparation isn't strong enough.
This concept is especially prevalent in turn based games.
Plus even if they're the same pokemon, the difference in set and evs can cause huge changes to the gameplay.
There have been some cool and unusual pokemon though. Brambleghast was there for a set for example.

Brambleghast's had a lot of usage among the top players this weekend
Even though its frail it does really well into a lot of the meta between Wind Rider and its natural resistances
Hopefully it gets Poltergeist in the DLC so it can have a consistent Ghost STAB

Not true in the slightest. Differences in EV spreads and moves make a big difference in how mons play out and how games go down, and the way that each mon interacts with every other mon in the meta changes the nature of the game in the moment they're brought to a match. It's like complaining that football games are all exactly the same because each team uses players in the same positions.

Torkoal is probably going to be King for setting sun. Eruption is super strong. OTOH Ninetails does have hypnosis and a decent speed tier, maybe it sees some use?
I think Politoed will see some use, it has enough to distinguish itself from pelliper.

I mean, how hard is it to gen a mon nowadays? I have no qualms with it because all I would do is play online. Back in gen 4 or 5 you'd do some shenanigans with the gts and it was super easy.

How is Wolfe still so bad at talking? He's been a professional youtuber for years and he's still mumbling in double time every time he talks. I'm not natively english but I can still understand and watch most stuff without subtitles. Not the case for Wolfe.

Riley won off luck, he got a wrong read that would have lost him the game using flamethrower into the Chi-Yu slot but since it crit it picked up the KO anyway. Wolfe almost recovered but then crit freeze crit sequentially ended it.
