why would Game Freak made a product they themselves consider "babyish" and "kiddy"? The only that makes sense is if Game Freak hated Gen 2 and was trying to sabotage it from the beginning to stop it from overshadowing KANTOOOO, while that may be a common meme to explain that lack of love Johto gets compared to others region its just that a meme, no one really belive Game Freak would sabotage there own product like that.

and "babyish" was a fan accusation, sugimori himself refers to them as cute/kiddy which hardly has a negative connotation
