DLC had a gradual enough level curve then just oh fuck Ogerpon just one shots everything even after pumping 10 levels worth of candy into my team. Fuck this bitch

Ogrepon's fight was pretty easy, I found. It only ever used Grassy Terrain and Ivy Cudgel. Just make sure you know the order of the masks and save your best counters for each one.

Ogerpon was surprisingly easy. After finding out it had a fighting move and STAB of it's type, it's not difficult at all and was the easiest part for me (I kept trying to find a good level to make my team ~70+).

The fuck? I lost to it once (largely because I came in fresh and was faffing about wondering what the fuck the different mask forms even did for the first attempt) but I redid my team with the knowledge gained (lead Crawdaunt phase 1, let it die to Low Kicks after using Crabhammer, clean up with Infernape Mach Punch, etc. etc.) and won pretty handily in the second attempt. If anything it's difficulty (when using a freshly-caught Kitakami team) was perfect. Not ball-bustingly hard, but it has enough tricks up it's sleeve to make it not be a cakewalk unless you prepare.

It wasn’t that bad, but I did have to pop a couple of items in that fight (and others). I brought a team of 3 that wound up being slightly underleveled for the dlc. I didn’t really mind, but it would be nice if Game Freak just included a pop up that indicated the level range for dlc story content. That would solve a lot of bitching.

How to make the DLC work:
All your pokemon are sent to a temporary locked box
This is only for the DLC area, DLC boxes and main game boxes are seperated, you have access to the main boxes in the main game area and DLC boxes in the DLC area.
Once you have beaten the DLC's main story you get full access to everything.
You get a 'shitmon' starter for the DLC, like Poocheyna or something.
Gamefreak can now balance wild pokemon encounters, trainers etc to the DLC instead of dealing with the player having level 100 Pokemon fighting free roaming slowpokes at level 50 or something.

I entered the DLC with a team level 75-80. Ogrepon and Ogre Clan were a bit challenging, but I only wiped againt Ursaluna, mainly because I thought it was Normal/Steel like those leaks.

That's what I did. Started with a team of Lechonk, Fidough, and Hisuian Sneasel, then caught a Sewaddle, Cramorant, and brought over an extra Iron Thorns from Violet and actually had a blast.

Ogerpon was a good fight, but nothing too terrible.

This fucker was scary though. It managed to get off 5 calm minds and started one shotting my entire team. I only beat it because I had a yanmega with detect, and I was able to predict when it'd use Blood Moon, and Earth Power obviously didnt affect me. Without Yanmega, I would have been fucked though.

The level curve is one thing, but the travel distance is something else entirely. It took my way too long to walk from Mossui Town to Loyalty Plaza, even accounting for me wandering off to catch Pokemon, collect items, and fight Trainers.

even if you dont wanna rush the Paldea main story, finishing the SANDVICH questline first is a no brainer, the extra mobility makes the game WAY less annoying.
