I can still remember my bitter distaste when I noticed Route 1 was just a hallway, the first rival battle used the starter weak to mine, that the first encounter on Route 2 was always a Pidgey and that all the encounters were a guaranteed catch, and that I was getting Exp. from all the catches. Then I get handed the broken Exp. Share after the first gym. The series has never recovered since. Fuck Gen VI. The only gen that is worse in Gen VIII.
