And he feels really hurt and betrayed that Ogerpon likes us more, so it seems very much alike NTR, like unironically. Plus, there's this whole thing about how Kieran's life situation and other interpersonal relationships (in his family) in general changes quite a lot once we enter his life, which is also a core element of NTR content. It's kind of weird and seems a bit intentional.
