You pretty much nailed everything I love about that route. It really gave me the feeling of being in my youth again, running through random fields and wooded areas with overgrown grass and puddles. The reflection of the clouds in the puddles making it feel like it had just rained, and you can almost feel that fresh, post-rain humidity in the air. Combined with the music, it really gives you the feeling of adventure through some wilderness.

Dude has no idea what a secret base is or how it works.
In RSE you could link with your friends and populate a base in your game with their team and pokemon and battle them for fun. All those "dead ends" are literally areas for secret bases because unlike some 30 y/o tranny, actual players are meant to trade and communicate with each other.

does anyone have those really fucked up "enhanced" RSE maps that used to get posted in here a few years ago? Not sure if it was for a rom hack or if it was just done for fun. They used RSE route maps as a base, but stretched them out and added a bunch of extra convoluted details. And no, I don't mean like, those "ZOMG HOW RETRO!!!11" GSC sprite fanart, I mean stuffed that seems like it was actually made to be used in a Gen 3 game.

At least 50% or more of that picture is fake stuff that cannot even appear on screen in the game. Like that entire lake zone that takes up the quarter bottom right of the map is completely made up fan fiction.

Yes, 119 and 120 are incredible for all the reasons already given. When I think of Hoenn it's this section that immediately springs to mind.

No I don't unfortunately. I looked for it, but couldn't find it.

I still think tripling the size of hoenn and adding random stuff would be fun. Pokemon could use more side quests and anime only locations

There’s something about those rainy swamps/marsh in Pokémon, I can’t figure it out.

I liked his Ever Grande design. It actually LOOKED like a city, and even had 2 access points to the League: stairs and waterfall.
It could've been a funny roadblock to walk to the stairs, and some guy telling you "can't go here, the storms and drought done by the legendaries destroyed part of the city. If you want to go to the league, go through the waterfall."

Looks like items and a secret base to me.

The Waterfall itself is the dead end huh. That alone is a Secret Base, but having Waterfall and Acro gets you to two more + items.

Legitimately a top tier route that plays to the special features of the region.
