The key point is that more than just Kanto exists in this franchise. BW and BW2 reference more than just Kanto. All 5 regions have rep in the PWT.
XY barely does, it's all Kanto, with an extra preference to Charizard.
If you remove the ORAS original Megas, you'll see the vast majority of Megas are Gen 1 mons, unsurprisingly.
That's not to say Megas are that bad though.
