Presumably, he was at least old enough to be conscious before they were invented, but let's just say for the sake of argument that they were invented the day after his birth.
And he doesn't look like he's on the verge of death.
I think some of the children like Sabi, Lian, and the protagonists could potentially still be alive. Albeit very old.
