Game good aside from a lot of Pokemon having bad learners like crobat not knowing a single poison type move and heracross only learning reversal

playing through gen 2 in tandem with stadium 2 was a great experience that hasn't been surpassed today, even though it easily could be, and I mean very easily.

The Elite Four teams are suprisingly good in Gen 2. Good mix of Johto and Kanto Pokémon, solid and diverse teams. Only dud is Will having two Xatus instead of a Mr. Mime. Gen 1 and Gen 3 had much worse Elite Four teams.

Damn straight. I don't care if it is the best or not; it's the one I had the most fun with. Gen 2 will always be peak Pokemon for me.

In fairness, poison was a shit type for the first 5 gens unless you were using Toxic. Like Posion was only super effective on grass in gen 2,3,4 and 5. So Crobat was fine just using flying coverage.

Virtually every Pokemon being a one-trick pony and most not even coming online until very late into their level learnsets (or being entirely reliant on TMs) really, REALLY hurts the experience.

Not really? I've done many playthroughs of gen 2 and as a result used a variety of mons and while there are weird level up moves for some mons, its still perfectly playable. Not to mention that being to buy the elemental punches is kino.
