It may be a decent Pokemon, but by the time you face Geeta, there's nothing Gogoat can do to you. Gogoat is not a Champion's Pokemon. I realize this can be said about other members of her team, but THAT is the problem.

It's not very good. It's a pure grass type with subpar defenses and bad speed so it usually has to survive a super-effective attack to even do anything. The only STAB it gets offensively is on Grass attacks which is not the best, and it's only real coverage options via level up are normal attacks that it gets no Stab on, and Ground Attacks to cover steels that it gets no Stab on. All of this is topped off with a lot of its base stat spread being allocated to both attacking stats, making whichever stat you aren't using to attack pretty much a waste of numbers. It's a pokemon that's operating with high HP, an okay single attacking stat, no other good stats, low speed, and lots of weaknesses. It's just outclassed by a lot of other Pokemon by miles

Glimmora is a perfectly respectable Pokémon and it's thematically appropriate for her to use it. Even if she's arguably misusing it as her ace instead of a setup lead, it's entirely functional as a special attacker.

I swept her whole team with Ceruledge off one Swords Dance
Skeledirge, the starter Pokémon, can do the same thing even more easily
Her entire team is weak and slow even though she postures as some hyper-offense oppressive threat with her "I'm incapable of holding back" spiel. Her fastest Pokémon is her lead Espathra (which still wastes a moveslot on fucking QUICK ATTACK), everyone else except Glimmora is 70 speed or lower. If you get any momentum going (and how can you not when half her team is setup bait) it's fucking over for her.

Starters tend to be good, they're not always good, they're definitely not usually "sweep the champion with one move" good
Torch Song is a bullshit move, but that's beside the point that a Champion team that can get completely dismantled by more than one easily available Pokémon with little to no effort is just a bad team. There are a lot of good Pokémon in Paldea but Geeta hardly uses them, doesn't use them well and doesn't have an answer to them when you use them against her.

I've always liked the design but was hoping it would see some use with Grassy Surge mons, however 50% Def increase on grass is nothing when you have 62 base Def.

It's an ok gym leader mon. But it's combination with the rest of her team makes it really lackluster.
The fact it's not designed to be a competetive mon either adds to how lack luster it is as a pokemon.

She should have led with Palafin and always switched to Glimmora turn 1. It's a clever gimmick that sets up an incredible ace while making her signature pokemon extremely impactful to the flow of the battle. Even if the rest of the fight is the same retarded AI and shit team, tricking you into setting her hazzards while holding a legend-tier pokemon in the back would have made her the best fight in the game and made her seem like an actual champion. Instead, her team is full of the kind of mons you leave in the box and she ends the fight with a hazzard setter. A complete waste of potential.

Since Gen 2(Hoothoot = clock, Remoraid = gun, Qwilfish = naval mine, etc), pretty sure every animal-looking mon have a concept behind them instead of "animal + element"
