Actually, the multiverse definitively started with BW due to the Entralink.
Time travel bullshit, meanwhile, has squarely been in the franchise since Gen 2 thanks to the original Time Machine of GSC.

Literally yes and it's nothing new. ORAS doesn't contradict much from previous games compared to other remakes and most of the shit people talk about is Youtuber-tier interpretations of "lore" that the game either doesn't say or outright debunks such as the idea that Rayquaza is the source of Mega Evolution or some dumb shit.

It doesn’t. Zinnia’s timeline only goes back to 3,000 years ago at the earliest, and she even says that the weapon going off is what split the timeline. The meteors were irradiated stones because the weapon was blasted into space before it looped back around to the earth, like we see in AZ’s flashback.

The only direct contradiction ORAS gives to XY’s lore is that the megas only occurred in Kalos according to Sycamore.

Kalos and Hone are geographically close to one another. We know this because a swimmer swam from one to the other. Stop the meme with the Pokeworld being our world when there have always been many things in the canon that would contradict that.

They never, EVER said this. It was Sycamore who pointed out that Kalos is the only region to hold examples of Mega Evolution. That is completely different.

They never said this either. Rayquaza was marked the beginning of the Draconid lore which they directly pass on to you during the Delta Episode. Then in the same breath they say how AZ in his post-eternal life state came and explained the phenomenon. That means it had to have happened after the events described in XY.
If that wasn't enough, they then go on and say how the ultimate weapon firing is the catalyst that led to the discovery of Megas in the first place and how it not firing resulted in it being unknown during RSE time period. There is no mega or non-mega universe.

My thoughts exactly. So if you look at the actual text of the games you'd realize there's no contradiction between XY and ORAS, but more importantly they never claimed megas were a Kalos only thing since they were straight up revealed in Unova first. Cope.

How does this make them geographically close to one another? XYORAS also introduced a character made of a fusion between five different characters from Emerald. Pokemon world humans are built different- a swimmer being able to swim from one region to the next proves nothing about their proximity given that a guy in this world can tank a hyper beam point blank.

NTA, but Hoenn's cardinal points don't match its real life inspiration and you don't see the main "Japan" island in any of its maps.

Not to mention that even in the more modern games the region's shape doesn't match its real life inspiration.

I guess if you were a superhuman you could swim from France to Kyushuu but its funny you accept superhumans and not the notion that maybe the pokemon world is not the real one.

even in our real world you have stories of 2000 years ago a great flood that flooded "the whole world" or whatever nonsense christians believe.

it's my understanding that different pokemon regions dont communicate well with each other and it really seems like they only have known about each other for a couple of generations, so you still have these wild ass stories they all seem to believe differently about the world. Every time team dicksucker whatever wants to destroy the world or rule the world or whatever, it is painted as a big implication that well if they can take over one region then surely they are powerful enough to take over the rest of the world.

I just wish they did ANYTHING with ANY of the shit they've built up over almost 30 fucking years at this point. Every game being self contained and a one-off adventure has become tiresome, and them cockteasing the idea of a meta narrative only to completely bin the idea in favor of more annual releases makes me roil with anger.

I actually, unironically liked Gen 7 - the pretense of Colress was exciting because that's the motherfucker who fused Kyurem in a region where we have divergent versions of the same Pokemon AND Space horror Pokemon! Imagine if they decided to keep on this plot instead of Gen 8's ...thing, I'm not gonna dignify it by calling it a 'plot'. Imagine creating awful symbiote pokemon - like how Lusamine was bonded to the Nihilego (also remember how Battle Bond was introduced as a concept and then forgotten about?)

GF just needs to go like 3-4 years without making a new main line game and then make one REALLY good one. They won't because the mediocre ones sell every year regardless of quality but SV just REALLY activate my rage because all the bones for the best Pokemon game ever were there but it was clearly over rushed and under funded. The DLC makes me even angrier because there's so many ideas introduced in it that I know won't ever get a pay off and things content designed for it will never get polished and fleshed out like the new mini games. Like There's a Pokemon Snap quest! Wouldn't it be great to actually have a full functional Snap Game with actual progression INSIDE your regular Pokemon game? I'm so fucking mad they don't just have the time to do this shit right.

i genuinely believe gamefreak only brought in a multiverse because they would never break immersion and say "yeah ruby and sapphire dont have mega evolution because they're old games" and instead just came up with it as a handwave for whatever BS retcons they do for remakes
