They legit look like Gym Leaders, and other people agree with this statement to the point of art being made for it.
And gym leaders are all associated with a specific type, so of course they're gonna brand themselves with their type, it's their whole deal. They don't dress like normal people because they AREN'T normal people. They're essentially celebrities, which brings this whole counterpoint around. I get why the older designs were more bland, because they were still starting out, but lorewise, most gym leaders aren't exactly day-to-day people. I mean, look at larry, he IS a day-to-day person, he's wearing a literal suit and tie, but it works for his gym as well as for his everyday office life.
