The main plot of SV is resolved in the base game. Arven finally gets closure on his dead parents.
The only unresolved plot thread is "What's that weird plaque in Area Zero?" All the other questions are just backstory, and only tangentially related to the family drama that serves as SV's main plot.

Damn, if you are right, that makes me think the Indigo disc part where we will return to area 0 will be turbo disappointing where we will basically catch the new Pokémon and the fate of the real professors and the AI professors will be left on somewhat of a cliffhanger.

The predatory way they promote the DLC in the base game would be like if we heard bits of lore throughout base SwSh about a Galarian king who fought and fell against Eternatus, prompting the wolves to step in
Players would wonder who this king was until Crown Tundra was revealed, and then you’d have to pay $30 to finish the story
The way they show Terapagos and the Paradox legends is them saying “fuck you, buy the DLC”, and it’s a shitty thing to do. GF releasing unfinished games is nothing new but this is a low point for them.

It's not predatory. If you don't like the game then skip the DLC because a bit of extra story shouldn't suddenly fix it. If you like the game then support it. Simple as.
GF has been putting out predatory 3rd versions since the beginning. DLC is better and cheaper.

Uhhh but actually if you didn't buy the base game then third versions are technically cheaper so it's actually pro-consumer to do things that way because it benefits people who aren't even your customers.

I agree with DLC being a better direction overall but SV feels incomplete without the story that will come from the dlc
Ruby/Sapphire and Diamond/Pearl have a compete-enough finale with hardly any hints at a sequel. Nothing important remains unanswered and you basically have to go out of your way to find Rayquaza and Giratina in the respective games.

The real professor was killed by the aggressive Koraidon/Miraidon freaking out. The only thing I'd say are cliffhangers are:

The player and their friends already do, somehow just beating them up is enough to keep them contained in Area Zero, that or they killed the excess Pokemon outright.

Time machine is completely shut down and the AI has the key that made it work, I agree it should be blown up though.

Real professor is dead, fake professor is either fucking around in the past/future (though they should be dead considering they couldn't leave the lab since they can't function without tera crystals...but whatever) or they just got reabsorbed into crystal energy or whatever they're made of.

The last one isn’t a cliffhanger. One parent is crazy in one version, and the other in the other. They already did this in RS with Archie and Maxie being either retarded or reasonable depending on the version you chose.

The turtle is a bigger cliffhanger, aka the one thing besides time/imagination people were actively speculating on early on since both the professor and the books refer to it by (blurred out) name. If it wasn’t for Khu endorsing the imagination plotline beyond what the game hinted at (Arven bringing up the paradox, and the sketch of the imagined mon), Terapagos itself would likely have been THE biggest thing people speculated on.

Well they're missing from the opposite game so what Turo/Sada do in SV respectively is up in the air. Not a cliff hanger but a loose end I don't think will get tied
