It's a joke based around subverting expectations, the character is essentially saying "I wasn't always a beautiful woman you know, just half a year ago I was... a man".

I think regardless of original intent I hope that the shifting public perception and current events leads devs away from including any faggotry at all in their work. The age of laughing at a crossdresser on tv is over, its not that funny when they come into your work place and your forced to act like nothing is wrong. Battle facility in all games have these completely out of left field joke characters. The reason they are there is because the shit they spew is too random and nonsensical to be anywhere else, in an already nonsensical game.
The Japanese text makes it clearer that it's indeed meant to be a guy, that's the joke.
